BIO DAVID LEÓN
Dancer, choreographer, teacher and arts education manager, with a solid academic training in both dance and circus, formed with teachers such as Michelle Man, David Zambrano, Guillermo Weickert, Carmen Werner, Cesc Gelabert, Beatriz Palenzuela, Sharon Fridman o Roberto Olivan among others. Moreover, I have also danced abroad with acclaimed international teachers such as Jeremy Nelshon, Ismahel Houston Jones, Kathleen Hermesdor, Julyan Hamilton, Shahar Dor, Les Slovacks, or the RootlessRoot dance company, among others.
I have partaken in festivals such as “Deltebre Dansa”, “Impulstanz”, “100 dancers Copenhaguen” “Contact meet contemporary”, “Ponderosa Dance Festival” “Costa Contemporánea”, or “La Penca”. In 2009 I was granted for three months in the Movement Research of New York.
I combine my artistic work in Cultural Association Gruñidos Salvajes in Madrid center, projects with more than 25 years of experience in the cultutal range of Madrid.
Between my owns creatings is; «The Beloved» (El Amado), a performance about the life of the King David, against any murder. «Solo Dance Joggling» in colaboration with diferent musicians, the dance cia «Fugapies» and «Convivio Danza». I’m currently working in the research for dance education on technique and expressiveness according to the body typology, that I spread in the form of; a show «Dance of Tempers», speaking-performance «Doctor F», a practical workshop, and recently as director of the documentary «Simple: the body does care».
